Cate Blanchett is a beauty and a magnificent actress. She also cares about the world we live in. More reasons to love her, right?
Well according to IDLYITW, Cate's "small action that will make a difference" is not washing her hair:
"The actress admits she has installed timers all around her home to restrict energy levels - and one is even on her shower head. Now she's no longer washing her hair, Blanchett has realized, "I only need to have a two minute shower." She adds, "I went to a website and my husband was laughing at me because a box arrived with 30 timers, and I thought, 'Excellent, stocking fillers!'"
If Cate can go on days without washing her hair, more power to her. And if her husband can go on days cuddling with Cate by the fireplace with smooth jazz music playing in the background while they sip red wine during her "no shower" days, then definitely more power to him.
I honestly can say I wouldn't be able to do what Cate is doing, but how about you? Is this "green" act something you would follow to be a much greener person?

I can't give up hair washing. I draw the line!!
1You can take a fast shower and still wash your hair! So I chose No.
And she's a celeb. She can take a shower, and then go to the salon to get her hair done there.
Case
closed! LOL!
2No I have to have my shower every morning.
3Nope, but I have switched all my bulbs to those energy efficient ones!
4No way. I have to take a shower everyday.
5thats committment!
62 minute shower?? Dangg...
7I try to be quick like a bunny in the shower. And I try to minimize water use as best I can. Don't know about not washing hair - wonder how long she goes for?
8Because I have such dry hair (seriously, seriously dry) I get away with washing my hair once a week - the rest of the days I have a shower with a trusty shower cap on.
9I would try it; My fastest shower is 7 minutes (I like to time myself.) My hair breaks easily so I only wash my hair every two days and then I just condition it those every-other days. That makes a time difference.
10I usually do a quick shower and leave my hair conditioner on until it's done before re-opening the shower...
11Anyway, I may be cynical here but these celeb's tips seem a bit like a "show off" to me :-/
I take shower everyday
12absolutely no! I can't live without shower! I wash my hair everyday. I can't even go out of home without fresh and clean hair.
You can only get smarter, by playing a smarter opponent..
13I think it's a great idea. So much time and water is wasted in the shower just putzing around...
14I only wash my hair every other day now. Not only do I save water and time, but I also save all the energy that I would've used to dry and straighten my hair. Also my hair has never looked better.
15I wash my hair every other day, sometimes every two days. I take a shower everyday during the week, but I have no problem not showering on the weekends. I do take long-ass shower though :embarassed:
16i need my daily shower .
17i definitely need my showers =(
18I don't wash my hair everyday purely because I don't need to, but as soon as my hair is oily or anything it gets washed straight away, I couldn't go for days without washing dirty hair!
19I think there's lots of different things you can do to make a shower go quicker or to use less water but don't ask me to give up washing my hair
One of the green changes I have made is to take a shower in the evenings and let my hair air
dry. Since my hair is pretty long it doesn't seem to get as kinked as it use to during the night. I'll admit that I'm addicted to my flat iron so no matter how kinked it might get drying it
in the night I can always flatten it out in the morning.
20I gotta bathe daily -- especially in this heat.

"Believe What You See, Not What You Hear!"
22I love her, but I choose to pay my dues in areas outside of the shower.
23i would love to be able to do that but i'm too high matinence, i'm obssesed w/ feeling clean!
