Have you ever wondered how far your food has traveled. Pick up a fruit or vegetable that you have and see where it came from. Chances are, your apple has traveled more than 1,500 to 3,000 miles (known as food miles). That is a lot of petroleum used just to distribute foods you can pick up at a local farmers market. Why must our food travel so far? Try to find one in you area if you want to help the environment.

I'm totally doing that. Also I have a friend in Gainsville and she gets together with another cpl of friends and they buy directly from the farmers in bulk. they save a ton and their products are always fresh

this such a great and interesting post, rothchild.
2I recently found a CSA in my area that delivers (a big help because I don't have to drag out my three little ones) and it is wonderful! I love knowing that all my produce is local and organic.
